Position Summary:The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of equipment and processes in a sewage treatment plant. The technician ensures the effective treatment of wastewater to meet environmental regulations and public health standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation and Monitoring:
Operate and monitor sewage treatment plant equipment and processes.
Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Monitor control panels and adjust valves, gates, and controls to regulate flow and treatment processes.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems.
Repair or replace faulty equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical and electrical components.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
Collect and analyze water and sewage samples to monitor treatment plant performance.
Conduct laboratory tests to determine levels of pollutants and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Record and interpret test results and make necessary adjustments to treatment processes.
- 4. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure plant operations comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Participate in safety training and drills.
Provide training and guidance to new or junior staff members as needed.
Maintain detailed logs of plant operations, maintenance activities, and test results.
Prepare reports and summaries for management review.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or technical certification in wastewater treatment, environmental science, or a related field preferred.
-Experience: Previous experience in a wastewater treatment plant or related field is preferred.
