- Recommending food and drinks: Making recommendations for food and drink pairings
- Communicating with the kitchen: Passing customer orders to the kitchen staff
- Ensuring orders are correct: Making sure that orders are prepared correctly and brought to the table on time
- Clearing tables: Clearing dishes from tables when customers are finished eating
- Preparing checks: Preparing checks and taking payment from customers
- Helping with table arrangements: Helping to rearrange tables to accommodate larger parties
