We are seeking a seasoned Senior Server Administrator with extensive experience in server administration, system management, and data center operations. As a Senior Server Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our server infrastructure. In addition to your technical proficiency, we value individuals who are passionate about contributing to community building initiatives such as Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Communities of Practice (CoP).
Responsibilities
- Server Administration and Maintenance: Manage and maintain the organization's server infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, and virtualization platforms. Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of servers and associated systems.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security measures to protect servers and data from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats. Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data security and privacy.
- Software Configuration Management: Oversee software installation, configuration, and updates on servers. Implement and manage software configuration management tools and processes to ensure consistency and reliability across server environments.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity. Perform regular backups, test restore procedures, and troubleshoot backup-related issues as needed.
- Active Directory and Identity Management: Manage Active Directory services and user accounts, groups, and permissions. Implement and maintain identity management solutions to ensure secure access to resources and applications.
- Network Services: Configure and manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, and LDAP. Troubleshoot network-related issues and optimize network performance and reliability.
- Virtualization and Cloud Technologies: Experience with VMWare virtualization technologies and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is highly desirable. Manage virtualized server environments and facilitate migration to cloud-based solutions as needed.
- Load Balancing and High Availability: Configure and manage load balancers and high availability solutions to distribute incoming traffic and ensure uptime and reliability of critical services.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document server configurations, procedures, and best practices. Contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives like CoE and CoP by sharing insights, presenting findings, and participating in discussions related to server administration and data center operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- years of experience as a Server Administrator with hands-on experience in system and data center operations.
- Proficiency in server administration tasks such as installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Extensive experience with security software, virus protection, and security best practices.
- Strong knowledge of software configuration management tools and practices.
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Proficiency in Active Directory administration, DNS, DHCP, and other network services.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
