- The position is to coordinate and direct technical aspects of Corning Environmental Technologies (CET) business in India.
- This includes coordination of all technical projects in India, resolution of quality issues and introduction of new products and processes.
- Key technical interface with customers and support account managers /product line management and recommend strategic and tactical courses of action through evaluation of customer and end user inquiries, feedback, and market assessment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Working closely with Sales team, to coordinate and direct CET activities in India, with emphasis on technical interactions and providing platform design solutions.
- Working through the Corning based AE, SE and Scientist, to coordinate all new development and technical exchanges between OE customers and the Corning manufacturing facilities worldwide.
- Engage Corning functional experts as needed to design and execute customer engineering or testing programs.
- Provide technical assistance to Sales Personnel, Customer Service, Research and development Engineering.
- Help plan and arrange (contacts, timing, topics, etc) for key visits and accompany Corning technical and commercial persons on their visits to customers in India.
- Defines and coordinates special testing requirements with respect to Indian applications.
- Negotiate/maintain/control product technical specifications with customers. Act as office of record.
- Act as technical interface with Value Chain members; i.e., catalyzers, canners, as needed, to trouble shoot related problems and to coordinate corrective action. Further provide Corning technical presence throughout value chain in bringing system solutions to OEM s.
- Be responsible for the commercial engineering tasks associated with any process changes/new product introductions/ or plant startups relative to customer validation requirements. Manage validation with the customer.
- Frequently visit customers to monitor product quality, create close working relationships and to acquire information, treads, need, competitive information, etc.
- Working on problem solving techniques involving data analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors.
Project Tasks
- Direct and Coordinate all Corning engineering efforts at the OEM in specific platform focused design efforts.
- Track and manage the change at the OEM regarding emissions changes, platform refresh, etc.
- Plan and execute the vehicle testing projects to validate the Corning product in co-ordination with OEM s, System Integrators and Supply Chain Partners
- Understanding of regulatory framework and engagement with regulatory bodies/ influencers.
- Manage customer validation requirements to optimize number and complexity to enable customer acceptance of Corning products and process changes as needed.
- Coordinate, direct and support all systems engineering activities (CVAS) as well as any other technical resources related to OEM programs.
- Stay current with Corning s changes and developments by visiting designated global Corning sites for training and information exchange.
Knowledge, Skills Experience Required
- Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Materials Engineering or related field.
- 6-8 years in Automotive or Auto OEM companies handling technology/product development and providing application/testing support.
- Along with technical capabilities, commercial knowledge and experience would be an added advantage.
- Requires moderate travel 25-35 % and high level of commitment in dealing with customers.
