Job Description:
- Using the regional/country supplier strategy to develop the clothing supplier strategy for the entire Indian supply base
- Supporting the wider sourcing and commercial teams with market intelligence for India, including relevant purchasing trends, competitor behaviour and the impact on our business
- Supporting the ESG agenda in both the strategy & product development work with our suppliers
- Maintaining engagement across the current supply base as well as identifying new suppliers, sources or product opportunities to ensure we deliver best quality products at the right price for our customers
- Owning recommendations and decisions, working collaboratively across functions (Technical and Responsible Sourcing) to ensure our supply base is compliant and that all factories are approved, audited, and accredited in line with the required Tesco standards
- Leading the management of contract processes with suppliers to ensure commercial terms are delivered
- Identifying risks within my existing supply base, liaising with Technical & Responsible Sourcing teams where necessary to ensure suppliers meet Tesco's standards
- Oversight of end-to-end supplier management process with accountability for onboarding and exiting suppliers
- Deliver supplier partnership plans & supplier contingency plans
- Supporting the communication of our new business strategies and changes in WOW/procedures to all suppliers, making sure they are understood, followed and embedded
- Up-skilling, developing & monitoring the supply base, visiting factories where necessary and providing on-the-ground support to suppliers
- Day to day crisis management resolving any issues that have been escalated from supply base
- Acting as the single point of contact for UK teams, taking accountability for costing within my hub
- Working alongside costing team colleagues to ensure supplier costings are scrutinised and validated through the open costing process.
- Providing analysis and a supporting narrative to be fed back to UK teams, who will lead negotiations with suppliers
You will need
- Sourcing experience in the apparel industry in India, ideally across multiple categories
- Experience working with a broad, volume-driven supply base, ideally for a global retailer
- Experience of managing others with a particular focus on building team capability
- Strong knowledge of sourcing, product development, supply chain and supplier management
- Track record of process improvement and delivering results
- Proven ability of collaborating with stakeholders across different functions, geographies and seniority to establish shared goals, influencing others to your point of view
- Fluent English
