Department Overview
The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Cloud Computing infrastructure on Azure to build at scale.
Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic Software Engineer to join our Cloud Excellence Team in driving the integration of cutting edge technologies and AI systems into our Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) services. This critical role will support key strategic initiatives, including service improvement, cross-platform integration, enhancing our offerings, developing AI-based predictive models, and creating LLM solutions for organization specific needs.
Basic Requirements
Responsibilities will include:
- Build backend services and APIs to create scalable engineering systems
- Architecting, building, and running large-scale systems
- Write clean, efficient and robust code and participate in code reviews.
- Own the delivery of an entire piece of a system or application
- Gathering functional requirements, developing technical specifications, and project & test planning
- Resolve defects/bugs during testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches
- Fast prototyping of proof-of concept features / application based on brief inputs.
- Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities and collaborate with cross functional teams to design and build scalable platforms/products/services/tools and to improve engineering productivity in the business unit.
- Participate in the Agile development process, including scoping, technical design, estimation effort, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, maintenance and support.
- Ability to balance the long-term big picture and short-term implications of design decisions.
- Be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent degree) with 4+ years of professional software development.
- Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Strong understanding of the software design/architecture process
- Demonstrated ability to build PoCs for complex, ambiguous problems and scale them up.
- Experience with object-oriented design, coding, testing patterns, and programming languages.
- Expertise in building high scale systems on microservice based architecture.
- Experience on Cloud Architecture, Microservices Architecture and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Expertise in MVC, SOA, RESTFul web services
- Experience working in a cloud environment like AWS , Azure or GCP
- Self-starter attitude with a willingness to dive in and figure things out
Preferred:
- Experience with AI/ML, especially in Generative AI and chatbot development.
- Experience with building chrome plugins is a plus
- Experience in a frontend framework is desirable
- Experience in building GraphQL APIs is desirable
- Hands-on experience with event-based system processing such as Kafka is desirable
- Prior experience as a team lead is a plus
