Job Summary:
As a Senior Shopify Developer, you'll be responsible for creating, optimizing, and scaling custom e-commerce solutions on Shopify. With deep expertise in Shopify's ecosystem and advanced technical skills, you will manage complex integrations, build custom themes and apps, and ensure the platform's optimal performance. Your work will directly impact our customer experience, site performance, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Custom Development: Design, develop, and maintain custom Shopify themes and apps tailored to meet business requirements, ensuring high quality and performance.
- Integration Management: Develop and maintain complex integrations with third-party APIs and systems (ERP, CRM, Payment Gateways, Fulfilment Services, etc.).
- Performance Optimization: Implement best practices for site performance, ensuring fast loading times, mobile optimization, and high-quality UX.
- Data Layer: Utilize JavaScript and Liquid to manage data layers for analytics and tracking, ensuring accurate reporting across Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.
- Backend Customization: Leverage REST and GraphQL APIs to extend Shopify's backend functionality, handling complex use cases.
- Deployment and Version Control: Use Git for version control and collaborate with DevOps for CI/CD pipeline management, ensuring seamless code deployment.
- Server Management: Collaborate on server management and deployment processes, working knowledge of cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) preferred.
- Code and Application Security: Implement security best practices, ensuring compliance with data protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support, resolve issues promptly, and maintain site uptime by monitoring alerts and conducting regular checks.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 35 years of experience as a Shopify Developer or in a similar role, with proven ability to deliver complex e-commerce projects.
Technical Skills:
- Frontend: Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and Liquid (Shopify's templating language); proficiency in front-end frameworks like React, Vue.js, or jQuery.
- Backend: Familiarity with Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or other backend technologies relevant to Shopify apps.
- APIs: Extensive experience with Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL) and custom API integrations.
- Database: Proficiency in managing databases, preferably MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
- DevOps & Cloud: Experience with server-side deployment on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including S3, EC2, Lambda, CloudFront, etc.
- Version Control: Strong command of Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket workflows, including branching, merging, and PR reviews.
- Performance Optimization: Knowledge of performance optimization tools, including Lighthouse, GTmetrix, and PageSpeed Insights.
- Testing: Experience with unit testing, A/B testing, and tools like Jest, Mocha, or Cypress for quality assurance.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience solving complex, multi-faceted issues.
- Collaboration: Ability to work in an agile environment, comfortable with tools like JIRA, Asana, or Trello; effective communication skills for working with technical and non-technical teams.
Nice-to-Have:
- Shopify Plus experience.
- Familiarity with headless Shopify and other e-commerce platforms.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Exposure to containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
