Senior Radiation Technologist

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Radiation Technologist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of radiological procedures and providing technical support in the field of radiation oncology. The Senior Radiation Technologist will oversee the operation of radiation therapy equipment, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and collaborate with radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. Responsibilities:

1. Perform radiation therapy procedures, including simulation, treatment planning, and delivery of therapeutic radiation doses.

2. Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, brachytherapy units, and imaging devices.

3. Position patients accurately for treatment delivery and ensure proper immobilization devices are used to maintain patient comfort and safety.

4. Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patients specific condition and treatment goals.

5. Monitor patients during treatment sessions, observe for adverse reactions, and provide support and reassurance as needed.

6. Assist with patient education and preparation for radiation therapy procedures, including explaining treatment protocols, potential side effects, and self-care measures.

7. Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including proper shielding, monitoring radiation exposure levels, and maintaining accurate records.

8. Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities, including equipment testing, calibration, and documentation.

9. Provide training and mentorship to junior radiation technologists and students, as applicable.

10. Stay updated on advancements in radiation therapy technology, techniques, and best practices through continuing education and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree or diploma in radiation technology or a related field from an accredited institution.

2. Certified Medical Radiation Technologist (CMRT) designation or equivalent certification/license.

3. Minimum of [5] years of experience working as a radiation technologist, with demonstrated proficiency in radiation therapy procedures and equipment operation.

4. Strong knowledge of radiation physics, anatomy, physiology, and oncology principles.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

6. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and precision in all aspects of work.

7. Proficiency in computerized treatment planning systems and electronic medical records (EMR) software.

9. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
