We are seeking a talented and passionate, senior individual to join Standard Chartered as the Director, Senior Process Mining Engineer in the Group Transformation Office (GTO).
Operational Excellence (OE) Process Mining (PM) is an integral part of the Group Transformation Office, and this role provides thought leadership and steer to Bank-wide Operational Excellence efforts in close partnership with senior management. The role requires driving holistic change by coaching and empowering people through multiple levers including process taxonomy & constructs, process reengineering, structural changes, digitisation, policy streamlining, targets and tracking, training, and accountability.
Specifically, this role will establish the data engineering framework for digitizing process analysis and process improvement, directly involved in both the execution of lighthouse PM initiatives, as well as the definition of a scalable, configurable, and robust data transformation machinery that will allow for PM to become an embedded practice across the bank. Establishing a community of practice and PM engineering training curriculum, this senior PM engineer will role-model process-driven, end-to-end thinking and scalable data engineering practices.
The Associate Director, Senior Process Mining Engineer is a global role based out of India, Poland or Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Shape future evolutions of the process mining engineering framework
- Review and adopt technological advances in large scale data management and engineering
- Partner with other functions to embed holistic process tracing in systems and operations across the bank to maximize process mining coverage and thereby achieve targeted efficiency outcomes
Process Mining
- Architect and build modular process mining data framework to maximize data transformation scalability, reuse, robustness, and performance
- Lead technical project delivery and ongoing maintenance of data pipelines
- Monitor ETL runs and optimize execution speed and robustness
- Embrace professional software development and large-scale data engineering practices
- Assimilate unknown process domain and terminology quickly
- Correlate process execution with underlying data traces; locate, explore and quality-assess
- Guide data scoping and technology toolset selection to streamline project delivery
- Collaborate with PM architecture for data quality and business volume validation
- Develop data transformation procedures (e.g. PySpark) for large scale (100GB+) process mining data sets based on big data file systems (e.g. Hadoop, Delta Lake)
- Develop delta update methodology and procedures
- Validate information across multiple stakeholders and distil common threads and recommendations
- Mitigate risks and impediments for project delivery
- Nurture relationships, build network across key roles in business
- Reflect on impact of changes in data scope and/or analysis approach and mitigate related risk early
Community
- Engage with the PM community of practice (engineering angle)
- Design and PM engineering training sessions
- Advocate for and role-model process- and data-driven holistic (end-to-end) mindset
- Present process mining engineering approach, lighthouse project briefs and lessons learned in various tech forums
- Collaborate with adjunct fields, like automation, simulation, process design
Risk Management
- Identify and raise risks and missing/ineffective controls
- Engage process and risk owners to ensure mitigation of raised risks and missing/ineffective controls
Governance
- Own and lead technical PM delivery methodology and tracking of optimization potential
- Design and establish technical PM training curriculum
- Contribute to roadmap planning and project prioritization
- Nurture and streamline collaboration model with (business-centric) PM architecture team
- Capture lessons learned and derive/design improvements on the PM data transformation
- Be aware and understand the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

Qualifications
- Languages - Business Level English Oral and written
- 8+ years of experience in executing process mining projects with a focus on data sourcing, ingestion, transformation and provisioning (=technical angle)
- Strong understanding large-scale (100GB+) data engineering principles, tools and technology (e.g. PySpark)
- Strong understanding of process mining methodology
- Strong understanding of process performance indicators and their calculation logic
- Strong working experience in developing configurable, scalable solutions to process mining specific data challenges (e.g. dealing with timestamps of varying precision and from multiple time zones)
- Proficiency in working with process mining solutions
- Experience in developing talent and training data engineers for process mining
- Strong active listening skills
- Confident and engaging communication skills across all levels of seniority
- Experience working in large global organisations with multiple value chains
- Knowledge of FSI processes is a plus
