Role Description
- The Lead Principal Auditor typically leads complex audits of a specific business/functional area/region, and evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to risks within those business areas. They typically act as coach for auditors.
- They will proactively develop and maintain professional consultative working relationships within their function and with stakeholders inside and outside the bank. They will use a range of approaches to collect relevant information to assess key risks, resolve major issues or carry out tasks across a portfolio.
- The Lead Principal Auditor works in a co-operative manner with subject matter experts and other teams from across the function and outside the function to provide front-to-back audit coverage and will actively contribute to the delivery of team plans in support of the functional and business strategies. They may occasionally lead ad-hoc projects and special investigations and represent the division at committees and forums, both internally and externally.

Your key responsibilities
- Lead global complex audits in the valuation control function area in accordance with the audit methodology and evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Participate in business front-to-back audits to provide valuation SME audit coverage.
- Participate and support the overall audit delivery of the team on areas related to market risk and counterparty credit risk.
- Prepare materials for regulator meetings. Support the PAM during meetings with regulators.
- Provide input into the development of the annual plan related to valuation control (incl. suggestions for the use of Front to back audits and Targeted Reviews).
- Perform risk assessments in line with GA risk guidance for auditable areas related to valuation control.
- Take responsibility for complex valuation auditable areas and the associated stakeholder relationships to enable effective risk assessment and continuous monitoring.
- Providing coaching to other team members. Develop the content and deliver the leveraged learning training to relevant business auditors (e.g. based on coverage strategies) as well as to the wider GA community.
Your skills and experience
- At least 8-10 years of Valuation Control relevant experience through either:
- Working in a 2nd line function responsible for Valuation Control activities (e.g. Independent Price Verification (IPV), Fair Valuation Adjustments, Prudent Valuation AVA's, Valuation Control Methodology)
- Direct internal / external audit experience of the Valuation Control function.
- A sound knowledge of banking activities, including capital market products and their accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task assignments, prioritise workload with limited supervision and be resilient under pressure when faced with tight deadlines.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills, communicating with clarity, both orally and in writing, in a logical order and structured approach. Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Strong relationship management, analytical, problem solving, communication, influencing, planning and presentation skills.
- Able to work in virtual, global teams in a matrix organisation, transfer knowledge and develop capability of team members.
