Who are we looking for
As a Senior Migration Engineer, you are an expert, transforming our customer s existing data to be loaded into our Khoros Community product. To fulfill these responsibilities, you have extensive professional experience working with databases and creating data transformation solutions. You lead by example, modeling the behavior of a seasoned and successful engineer for your peers. You are also an excellent collaborator, working with our Project Managers, Technical Leads, and fellow Engineers on the requirements and design for the solutions you create. At the same time, you can work independently and efficiently, because you re organized, task-focused and self-responsible.
This position will be focused on supporting our US region, and may require flexibility in attending customer calls or collaborating with US-based colleagues. For sufficient overlap with the US, expected working hours will be similar to EMEA-based work shift (approximately 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm IST).
Responsibilities
- Implementing, testing, documenting, deploying, and supporting data migrations for the Khoros Community product.
- Managing and accounting for your own time and activities; developing your technical and professional skills within the department; setting a positive example for teammates.
- Collaborating with and helping colleagues solve technical problems.
- Contributing to operational and process improvements.
- Due to the nature of our customer-centric team, participation in occasional off-hours deployments and/or occasional rotation in on-call outage assistance may be required.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience as a software engineer or system integration engineer, preferably focusing on creating/managing databases.
- Extensive experience setting up and querying at least two of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, or similar relational databases
- Experience with UNIX command-line tools, and creating and executing scripts (shell, Python, Ruby preferred).
- Experience with regular expressions and other data transformation techniques
- Experience in executing REST API requests.
- Experience collaborating with other engineers through Git and pull requests.
- Experience executing peer code reviews.
- Ability to analyze and interpret datasets to ensure integrity.
- Strong command of the English language (written, spoken, colloquial); additional languages a plus.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to customer and team objectives in order to understand requirements, goals, and issues and formulate possible solutions.
- Comfortable breaking down large problems and concepts into achievable segments; talent for troubleshooting
- Eager and able to learn independently while also recognizing when to seek help.
- Strong time management skills when serving multiple customers with competing priorities.
Preferred
- Experience working in a Professional Services team, or similar customer-centric role.
- Strong foundation in a variety of back-end technologies, such as NodeJS, ExpressJS, and GraphQL
- Experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, .NET, etc.)
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- AWS (especially AWS Lambdas), or similar cloud-based services
- SSO Integrations (SAML, Oauth 2, Open ID Connect)
- CRM Integrations (i.e. Salesforce, MS Dynamics, Zendesk, etc.)
- Experience with debugging and tools like Sumologic, Splunk, Datadog, or New Relic
- Familiarity with public key cryptography including TLS/SSL, SSH, and X.509 PKI
- Experience working with Atlassian suite of tools including Jira and Confluence.
