Building off our Cloud momentum, Oracle has formed a new organization for Public Admin and Public Safety Suite of SaaS software. This team focuses on product development and product strategy while building out a complete suite of SaaS software. This is a net new line of business, constructed with an entrepreneurial spirit that promotes an energetic and creative environment.

We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in all areas of software engineering: distributed systems, identity, security, observability, and user experience.

This is a greenfield opportunity to design and build new cloud native SaaS services from the ground up. We are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact here. You will be part of a team of smart, motivated, diverse people, and given the autonomy as well as support to do your best work. Who are we looking for

We are seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff(SMTS) who shares our passion and excitement to design, develop and operate SaaS services using cloud native best practices.

As a SMTS in our team, you'll be responsible and lead efforts in designing and building scalable, distributed, and resilient software components and services to support Public Safety Suite of applications, and our end users. We believe in ownership and expect you to think long term, mentor, and empower other engineers. As a tech lead, you will own the complete SDLC from design, development, testing, production rollout and operational support.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and Development/Engineering staff at all levels.
  • Solid analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills with an ability to handle competing demands.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs and ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Solid practical understanding of software development process; expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Strong skills to evaluate product performance metrics, as well as to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Experience in leading technical design discussions and ability to summarize complex trade-offs and options in presentation and technical documentation.
  • Aptitude to work across and engage individuals and teams located across multiple geographies and or cultures.
  • Balancing work as a lead individual contributor with providing direction and mentoring to others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of developing and shipping SaaS applications with at least 2+ YOE in building cloud native services in a public cloud environment.
  • Strong system design fundamentals and distributed systems architecture best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to write great code in Java or similar OO programming languages.
  • Experience with web application development using microservices frameworks such as Helidon, Dropwizard, Spring boot, etc.
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Work with modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as React or Preact
  • Strong desire to make an impact and thrive in collaborative and energetic environments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts verbally and through design aspects.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in leading the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications.
  • Design and build distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems.
  • Build cloud services on top of the modern OCI infrastructure.
  • Participate in the entire software lifecycle, from design to development, refining the architecture by providing feedback and suggestions, reviewing code, managing releases, driving DevOps, to quality assurance, and to manage operations of the software assets in production.
  • Invest in the best engineering and operational practices upfront to ensure our software quality bar is high.
