What you'll do:
You will be part of a global engineering team that caters to time & attendance needs for all associates across the globe at Walmart. The team leverages/implements standard modules as well as builds custom developments that integrate with several systems meant for tracking time & attendance. The solutions developed could potentially enable millions of users achieve efficiency in their day to day processes and thus enable massive cost savings for Walmart.
Your Responsibility shall include:
- Manage a high performing team of 8 - 10 people and own the accountability of complete E2E delivery
- Should be good in stakeholder and program management
- Establish best in class incident management processes, RCAs
- Own operational excellence for the platform - define/measure/improve metrics
- Bring automate everything mindset to the team and improve engineering productivity
- Drive Cost analysis and cost reduction initiatives
- Work with architects and Walmart global tech team and bring best-in-class tools and practices to make platform highly scalable, available and maintainable
- Engage with enterprise and business/infrastructure functions to establish, track, and optimize operational metrics and targets in line with SRE principles (SLO/SLI, Latency percentiles , error budgets, tech debt and setup alert guidelines)
- Work with Observability tools and enterprise monitoring solutions like Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Prometheus, Graphite, Grafana, Nagios, Sensu and Splunk . Should be able to write promQLs and Splunk queries
- Design and implement systems with a focus on resilience, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery. Identify and address potential points of failure to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Design and build managed services infrastructure at scale, catering to diverse user needs. Ensure the scalability and reliability of managed services in public cloud environments (eg, Azure, GCP)
- Work with senior leadership to chart out the platform roadmap
- Participate in hiring and build teams enabling them to be high performing agile teams.
- Mentoring and coaching team and help them grow.
- Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
What you'll bring:
- 12+ years of experience in building highly - scalable applications and platforms with at least 3+ years of managing teams
- Operational excellence mindset to the team
- Good programming experience in any language of choice Go/Scala/Python/Java
- Experience with containerisation and container platforms. (eg, Docker, Kubernetes, Docker EE, OpenShift, Mesosphere).
- Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions like AppDynamics, New Relic, Prometheus, Graphite, Grafana, Nagios, Sensu and Splunk; alerting solutions like xMatters, PagerDuty
- Deep understanding of CI/CD processes and tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, etc
- Good knowledge of RDBMS and No-SQL databases.
- Awareness about Big Data systems
- Proficient in problem solving and working with large scale systems.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, willingness to learn new and emerging technologies
- Awareness of Agile (Scrum) methodologies
