The Engineering Tools and Platforms teams this role leads own and deliver the full suite of SDLC tools to enable modern CI/CD and DevSecOps practices across BT Group.
What you ll be doing - your accountabilities
You will be accountable for:
- Designing and implementing of an efficient effective operating model and organisation design
- Recruiting, retaining and developing a high performing management team
- Defining and managing to a set of OKRs to meet platform KPIs - for which you will be accountable
- Meeting performance availability targets
- Ensuring best-practice use of ITIL processes, DevOps, including an effective, tested, service and data DR plan
- Running an effective risk management process aligned to wider Architecture Digital risk process
- An efficient and effective use of agreed CapEx and OpEx budgets: maximising benefits, optimising spend and delivering productivity improvements
- Delivery of roadmap items jointly agreed between yourself and the product owner(s) - on time, to budget and quality
- Effective agile-based planning and delivery, aligned to wider
- Architecture and Digital best practice
- Providing a high quality on-boarding and in-life service capability to your users
- Strong governance and data management controls: ensuring understand your data, who has access to it for what purpose, retention policies are applied, etc.
- SRE in your engineering teams
- Being an exemplar for modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, using your own platform
- The security of all technology and processes in your remit: keeping colleagues, customers and BT safe. As the custodian of BT s source code and build process, security is paramount.

- Expert in software engineering best practice and delivery
- Relevant experience of leadership of team leaders/other managers or equivalent operational responsibility
- Ability to work under pressure and tight schedule
- Experience of financial management of a cost centre

- The ability to build strong working relationships within and outside the business
- Ability to objectively review performance issues and deal with them effectively

- Expert in managing 3rd parties (services software) both on an ongoing and performance management when required
Experience you d be expected to have
- 7+ years in a delivery/engineering leadership role
- 10+ years total IT experience
- Experience of building and running services on public cloud highly desirable.
- Experience of building platforms to provide service to others.
- 5+ years experience of software development including modern engineering practices such as CI/CD
