This position will report to the Group General Counsel (based in Singapore HQ), and play a pivot role to the business teams to execute the strategy of Mapletree by providing critical legal inputs.
Job Responsibilities - Understand the Group s strategic objectives as an owner, developer and investor of real estate, and provide pragmatic advice and solutions to internal clients on a wide range of real estate matters.
- Provide asset management and property management support in the legal and compliance matters for the Group.
- Provide guidance on acquisitions and divestments of assets in India
- Involved in drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction agreements, including leases, purchase and procurement agreements, property management-related documents, construction and consultancy contracts, and ensure that all transactional and operation activities are carried out in accordance with applicable state and federal legislation and regulations.
- Keep Management up-to-date with relevant changes in legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Develop legal procedures, practices and systems to minimise corporate risks while maintaining a competitive business environment.
Job Requirements - Degree in Law and have passed the bar (please indicate the year in the resume)
- At least 10 to 12 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant areas, with a strong emphasis on real estate; prior in-house MNC experience is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of PQE experience.
- Familiar with the India and International laws, preferably for joint ventures and real estate matters.
- Possess strong transactional and management skills as we'll as a high level of integrity.
- Possess intuitive communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to complex real estate transactions and fund structures would be an advantage.
