About The Role & Team
The Monitoring architect has deep technical skills and experience in designing a software development environment which allows product teams to work with an automated, efficient delivery pipeline that helps build software rapidly and effectively with the appropriate level of telemetry and monitoring to create a feedback loop back to the design and development process.
The monitoring architect will work closely with the tech leads within the product teams to identify common areas of friction slowing product development related to their domain and then works with wider architecture teams central cloud services, corporate and security architects to build common capability to enable easier and more efficient product development. Dev Ops architects also identify innovation or accelerators within their domain which will help the portfolios achieve their goals and objectives.
The monitoring architect is a great communicator and collaborator with deep technical skills and hands on experience of building software. They work with the portfolio architects, tech leads and consulting architects across portfolios and with central cloud services, corporate and security, as well as the delivery teams to ensure that enablers, best practice and guidance is provided and cross portfolio capability is identified, designed and communicated to the product teams as effectively as possible.
What You'll Do
- Contributing Analyzing, executing, and streamlining DevOps, Monitoring and Telemetry Landscape
- Automating processes with the right tools
- Designing a continuous build environment to speed up software development and deployment process
- Architecting overall, comprehensive, and efficient practices
- Guiding developers and operation teams in case of an issue
- Monitoring, reviewing, and managing technical operations
- Dev-ops tech strategy outlining technical direction with input from portfolio architects & tech leads in the product teams working in alignment with ICE and IS.
- Collaboration and support for the portfolio architects & tech leads to share and help with best practice, guidelines and reference architecture to save re-inventing wheel
- Involvement in vendor management and negotiation to ensure licensing and commercial agreements meet with the portfolio usage of tools and platforms .
- Collaboration with portfolio architects & tech leads to identify gaps in best practice, tools, guidelines and services etc. and to take manage the creation of new services through collaboration with other teams or with portfolio
- Input into of relevant domain level technical documentation and automation of domain capability where appropriate.
- Write Enabler epics and features
- Custodian of architecture documents
- Lead the design process and represent the team in the technology governance
- Ensure adherence with domain strategies e.g. adoption of new technologies or migration off legacy
- Conduct / lead Architecture assessments
- Continuously review the stability & performance of the Product and make recommendations for optimization
Qualifications
ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
- Experience in software development or dev-ops engineering
- Experience with CI/CD using Azure DevOps
- Min 3 years experience with Dynatrace and ServiceNow (CMDB, ITOM & ITSM)
- Observability experience for .Net, Java and serverless applications hosted in private and public clouds
- Monitoring for Cisco, Fortinet, Azure, AWS, VMWare infrastructure
- Desirable knowledge of: Python, Ansible, Terraform
- Experience of vendor management and licensing models.
- Skills in architecting dev-ops solutions in the cloud preferably Azure
- Technology evangelist, coach and guardian for adoption of strategic technologies
- Technology rationalization and consolidation assessment and planning to manage sprawl / proliferation
- Requirements definition and refinement for observability, monitoring, SLOs, proactive operational tools & processes
- Observability platform and eco-system integration design
- Software deployment and platform configuration automation design
- Definition & implementation of application logging standards & frameworks
- Definition & implementation of application instrumentation (Open Telemetry & Agent-based)
- SLI definitions and implementation in observability tools
- Systems Integration design for monitoring tools & event management systems
- Service modelling for service provider products and internal services, applying the ServiceNow CSDM
- CMDB discovery tools design.
