Job Title: Immigration Law Clerk
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Immigration Law Clerk to join our legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting persuasive submission letters to Canadian Immigration authorities, compiling and organizing supporting evidence, communicating with clients to gather information, and conducting in-depth research on various Canadian immigration programs, case laws, and relevant legal precedents.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drafting Submission Letters:
- Prepare well-structured and compelling submission letters for various immigration applications, including PNP, H&C applications, study visas, permanent residency, refugee claims, and business immigration programs.
- Ensure that the letters effectively present the client's case and address all relevant legal requirements and guidelines.
2. Evidence Compilation and Organization:
- Collect, review, and organize supporting documentation and evidence from clients for immigration petitions.
- Verify the authenticity and relevance of the provided documents.
- Maintain meticulous file management and ensure the completeness of the application packages.
3. Client Communication and Information Gathering:
- Communicate with clients via phone, email, or in-person meetings to gather necessary information and clarify any discrepancies.
- Provide guidance to clients on the required documentation and information needed for their specific immigration cases.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with clients throughout the process.
4. Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research on various Canadian immigration programs, including program guides, policies, and eligibility criteria.
- Study relevant federal court and Supreme Court judgments, as well as case laws pertaining to immigration matters.
- Analyze and interpret legal precedents, regulations, and guidelines to ensure the creation of well-supported and legally sound petitions.
5. Continuous Learning and Knowledge Acquisition:
- Stay updated on changes and developments in Canadian immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance legal knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Canadian immigration laws and procedures is an asset.
The applicant should be comfortable working independently and adhere to strict timelines. We want somebody who takes a productive and conscious approach to preparing applications while maintaining the quality and integrity of the overall petition that has to be filed on behalf of the client.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and comprehensive preparation of immigration petitions, contributing to the success of our clients cases.
