Description
The IR Specialist will be responsible for leading the industrial relations function for the Amazon Operations. This includes managing relationships with labor unions, negotiation, collective bargaining agreements, guiding wage settlement and proactively addressing employee grievances and disputes. The IR Specialist will work closely with the HR team and business leaders to develop and implement effective IR strategies that support the company's operational and growth objectives in India.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert on industrial relations matters for business leaders across India operations
- Manage all aspects of the company's relationships with labor unions in India, including collective bargaining negotiations, wage settlement, grievance handling, and compliance with union contracts
- Investigate and resolve complex or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner
- Analyze workforce data and voice trends to identify potential IR risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies
- Document IR-related playbooks, processes, decisions, and outcomes to maintain a robust knowledge base
- Understand the labour landscape and create strategy to gather ground level intelligence on external associations and unions
- Work with external consultant in navigating complex IR situation and build strategy as per the business requirement
- Build relationship with the external industry folks operating on similar landscape to understand the industry pulse
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field
- Minimum 8-10 years of specialised experience in industrial relations management
- Demonstrated expertise in collective bargaining, wage settlement, grievance handling, and labor dispute resolution
- Thorough understanding of labor laws and regulations applicable to India's industrial sector
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address complex IR challenges
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders
- Experience in working with trade unions and navigating union dynamics
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Industrial Relations, HR, or a related discipline
- Certification in Industrial Relations or Labor Laws
- Knowledge of HR best practices and their application in an IR context
- Experience working in the manufacturing or services industry in India
