Job Title: Senior Engineer, Observability Tools
*Job Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
*Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days per week in office)
*Shift Timings: UK hours (2:00 PM IST to 11:00 PM IST)
*Role:
*
Architect, design, build, integrate, and support Monitoring and Observability solutions from known vendors and bespoke solutions.
Work alongside other Cloud, Observability, and SRE engineers to help create and maintain a monitoring framework for a hybrid AWS and on-premise environment that is scalable across multiple BU's.
Work with multiple vendor technologies and various best-of-breed SaaS and enterprise cloud management tools/products (Splunk, New Relic, BigPanda, Opsgenie, AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).
Solve problems using a software development and continuous improvement mindset.
Responsibilities:
*
Design, implement, and support reliable, scalable, and well-structured monitoring strategies and automation for cloud native and hybrid application stacks.
Implement, promote, communicate, and follow Observability and monitoring processes, guidelines, and best practices.
Partner effectively with the product teams to manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap.
Identify areas of strategic technical debt and provide cost/benefit analysis for eliminating this debt and suggested timelines for prioritization
Introduce and develop new technologies and skills that will make the team and its output more efficient. This should include but not limited to cross knowledge training.
Document infrastructure and design decisions and effectively explain decisions both to business and tech owners.
Establish strong relationships with all internal stakeholders and service owners to ensure open communication and cross-collaboration.
Translate business use-cases into supportable, working solutions.
Establish and/or maintain sustainable production support models for Observability and monitoring tools/platforms/solutions used across the global organization.
Remain up-to-date on industry trends and technologies and facilitate the application where appropriate.
Use existing Observability platforms to collect, analyze, and interpret application and system telemetry data to provide insights into behavior, performance trends, and user experiences.
Make sense of and implement new Observability requirements that are scalable, secure, performant, and cost-efficient.
Skills & Experience:
*
Possesses a solid understanding of modern web application architecture, TCP/IP, HTTP, and complex cloud network and security topologies.
Strong knowledge of monitoring tools architecture, implementation, and integrations in Hybrid DC and multi-cloud environments.
Hands on experience with administering Linux systems.
Working experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Route53 etc.
Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis), as well as AWS native RDS and DynamoDB.
Willingness to learn and build new tools from scratch.
Sound knowledge on the latest Microsoft SCOM architecture.
Hands-on experience is installing and configuring SCOM servers, proxy, and agents
Strong knowledge of scripting like Python, Shell, PowerShell, JS.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and Artifactory.
Ability to dissect business requirements, and translate them into technical requirements as well as identify the places or technologies critical to making projects efficient and successful.
Working knowledge of Kanban or similar agile disciplines.
Additional cloud or monitoring relevant certifications and experience are advantageous but not required.
Solid understanding of typical products used in the Observability space like ServiceNow, BigPanda, Splunk, New Relic, and Opsgenie.
Proficiency in cloud platforms.
Knowledge of open telemetry standards.
Working knowledge of OTEL collector configurations for capturing metrics and traces.
Good presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Information Technology field is desired, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5-7 years of project and end-user support.
Ability to stay aware of new product releases in order to support them.
Excellent troubleshooting skills
