We are looking for an exceptional person to add to our Geotechnical Team in our Bengaluru / Noida, India office. You will have at least 6 to 8 years experience in the design of foundations, slope stability, embedded retaining walls, settlement analysis for various infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of projects working closely with and being supported by other team members, Project Managers and Directors within the UK team.
As a specialist/expert within the UK&I based Geotech Team working predominantly on a range of variety of geotechnical projects across the UK world.

Role Responsibilities
- Development of professionally and technically competent reports by making use of efficient working practices to provide industry leading, best value services to our clients.
- Provide support in all aspects of project delivery including financial analysis, client liaison, public and statutory body consultation, quality control, management of specialists, contractors and sub consultants.
- Effectively manage and deliver project work with robust project financial management. Has budget responsibility for the delivery of projects and services.
- Assist in managing team resources and allocation of appropriate project resources.
- Manage, motivate, mentor, and develop supporting professional staff.
- Provide support in all aspects of project delivery meeting high technical standards, required quality and within allotted budget.
- Working in accordance with accepted methods and legislation (including CDM) and operate in accordance with WSP's corporate health & safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards. Taking ownership for aspects of SHEQ management across the geotechnical team.
- In effect to coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams working on geotechnical projects, work closely with and provide professional advice that builds relationships and raises the profile of the geotechnical team.
- Undertake own continuing professional development and that of others, including representing the geotechnical team at technical conferences and seminars.
- Support the pursuit of new business opportunities, both for internal and external clients, assisting business development in line with the business plan. This would include the development of, and input into, geotechnical bids and proposals.
- Undertake own continuing professional development and showing management of others across a team, to maintain and build professional capability.
Key Competencies
Mandatory Skills
- A sound understanding of geotechnical engineering, with a broad understanding of the underlying principles, and substantial project management experience of medium sized projects.
- Will have proven previous experience of undertaking: geotechnical desk studies; procuring & supervising Ground Investigations (GIs), critical checking of Ground Investigation Factual Reports; preparing Ground Investigation Reports in accordance with the requirements of Eurocode 7 : Part 1.
- Will have contributed to the production of some Geotechnical Design Reports.
- Demonstrable experience of geotechnical design together with a familiarity of design submission documentation. This includes a demonstrable understanding of the underlying principles and a knowledge of Eurocode 7 and UK annex design codes, ground investigation and construction contracts and specifications.
- Ability to use a range of geotechnical software for the design of civil engineering projects including the following: deep and shallow foundations (including pile group analysis); embedded and gravity retaining walls; earthworks/slope stability; reinforced earthworks.
- Proficiency with the use of geotechnical software for the management, review and presentation of ground investigation and geotechnical data using current best practice. Must have the skills to check, critically evaluate and amend your own work, be it drawings, calculations or reports.
- Should have consultancy experience with good commercial awareness and an understanding of client requirements as described in contracts, including an understanding and awareness of contractual issues and risks when dealing with clients, Contractors and sub-consultants.
- Able to support at client facing meetings and able to assist with client/contractor meetings.
- Provides active contribution to technical excellence and innovation across the local geotechnical team.
- Excellent report-writing and strong client liaison skills. Will have significant previous experience of undertaking and managing geotechnical desk studies; designing, procuring & supervising Ground Investigations (GIs); checking and reviewing Ground Investigation Reports & Geotechnical Design Reports in accordance with the requirements of Eurocode 7: Part 1.
- Good oral communication skills also, able to provide solid support at client facing meetings and able to assist with client/contractor meetings.
