We invite you to bring your talent and professional interest in Bridges, Ports and Marine Engineering and Design into play as part of Ramboll's international network of Ports and Marine Engineers. We are looking for people with enthusiasm and a good track record in forming part of a high-performing team to deliver a range of major projects with colleagues located in Germany and the rest of the Europe. To succeed in this role, you must have a B.Tech in Civil Engineering with practical experience in the delivery of ports and marine engineering solutions. An M.Tech degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a higher academic qualification would be advantageous, along with a track record of delivering marine structures design, and other allied structures. Your new role
As our new Senior Engineer - Geotechnical you will be part of a world class, innovation driven engineering design center owned by an independent trust and its employees. REC is a highly sophisticated center of engineering excellence. Working in partnership with all our established offices globally, the Ramboll Engineering Centre (REC) is a center for excellence in design by offering optimized solutions to the rest of the organization.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
Geotechnical design and calculations, including stability, settlement, supported excavation, piles, pre-loading, stabilization, geogrid, loading berm, lightening, replacement of soil, ground water, frost heave, mass balance, jet grouting and more
- Geotechnical project work in German and international marine and infrastructure projects, including ports, tunnels, dykes, landfills, roads, tramways, railroads, pipelines, wind parks, industrial facilities and more
- 3D/FE Modelling of geotechnical structures
- Interpreting geotechnical investigation reports and using appropriate geotechnical / geological design parameters
- Programming soil investigation programs
- Reporting and preparing design drawings and project documentation
- Cost analysis, GHG emissions and environmental impact estimations, and risk assessments
- Project meetings, and communicating with clients and other designers
- Utilize applicable national and international codes for geotechnical design
- Make sure that projects meet legal guidelines
- Actively participate in improving your skills, the team and the organization
- This would be the main kind of task + 3D/ FE work
Your new team
You will be part of REC was established as a dedicated institution for creating the excellence centre in Ramboll. REC focusses on providing global expertise using local resources from India. Facilitates cooperation between India, business units in Europe and the Middle East specifically for the Buildings, Transport and Water sectors.
This big team is divided into groups of dedicated personnel working for structures in UK, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway who sometimes also work across these boundaries. They are virtual team mates working on common projects, prime business units in the above countries being the ones who coordinate with the clients and other consultants as well as with REC to pass on the design solutions to the user. The wide range in type of projects vary from high rise structures, to precast, to post tensioning etc., for some regions to industrial structures depending on the country you are working for. The most attractive thing is in spite of the challenges of working across continents, because of the culture of planning ahead and ability to understand each other's needs, everyone works in a peaceful and lively manner, enjoyment and empowerment being some of the Ramboll values
About You
From the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. For this role, we believe your starting point is:
- Must possess 4+ years hands-on design experience, including in the geotechnical design of infrastructure, marine infrastructure, residential and/or industrial projects
- Experience with European design codes (Eurocodes) / German Codes (DIN) will be an added advantage
- Candidates having experience in working with Multinational Companies / overseas will have an advantage
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plaxis 2D/3D, GGU, GROUP or similar basic geotechnical software as well as Microsoft Office tools
- Knowledge of 3D modelling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Civil 3D, Tekla Structures) and programming skills (e.g., Rhino/Grasshopper, Python/VBA) are of special interest
- Knowledge of other applicable software (e.g., FLAC 2D/3D, UDEC 2D/3D, Mathcad) would be an advantage
- Have good communication skills (spoken, written) in English and be able to collaborate on international projects
- Prefferable to have German language skills (spoken, written, B2) and be able to read and write project documentation
- Should be a good team member and should coordinate with other team members and the project manager for a timely delivery of projects.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must have a M. Tech degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
