Job Description :
Over 10+ years of strong experience as a LINUX/UNIX System Administrator and Production Support of various applications on Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu environments, Along with Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure. Also need expertise on Bash Scripting.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following areas:
On a day-to-day basis, this role will require the candidate to be an essential member of the Infrastructure operations team providing technical support for,
Administer, maintain and support Linux (RHEL/Suse/Ubuntu/CentOS) operating systems and exposure to any 2 of the UNIX flavors.
- Expertise in Bash Scripting
- Good working knowledge on repositories (GIT)
- Migrating complex, multi-tier applications.
- Knowledge in AWS Services. Deployment, Monitoring and troubleshooting applications in AWS.
- Configuration management tools like Proficient in the deployment of applications behind load balancers and proxy servers such as nginx, apache.
- Designing and deploying enterprise-wide scalable operations on Cloud Platforms
- Implementing cost-control strategies
- Resolve major incidents and technical escalations within agreed SLAs and quality.
- Problem Management: Perform root cause analysis for problems and major incidents, provide workarounds to ensure business continuity and prepare RCA reports.
- Change Management: Prepare Implementation plan, rollback plan and test plan, risk and impact analysis for critical or complex changes. Review the change plan and documentation prepared by level 2 engineers or peers.
- Participate in CAB meetings as needed and assist change manager in techno-operations decision process
- Install hardware and software, maintain appropriate service levels, performance tuning and firmware upgrades across multiple hardware platforms.
- Perform advanced tasks such as, capacity planning, performance monitoring, provide recommendations for improvement and implement or oversee implementation of the recommendations.
- Perform system software upgrades including planning / scheduling, testing, coordination, and maintaining integrity of the operating system environment.
- Harden operating system parameters in line with client / Dimension Data security policy, standards or best practices.
- Respond to outages both during normal business hours and after-hours on a need basis (on-call support).
- Documentation, knowledge sharing and training of junior members.
- Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, end users, other department team members, and service providers to resolve issues.
- Managing LVM & RAID Technology, Monitoring/handling/working on it 9 If needed)
- Knowledge of Scripting
- Troubleshoot file system crash, disk space problems.
- Analyze data, oversee and contribute to service improvements.
- Oversee tasks executed by junior members and stand in for them if needed.

- Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices : Incident, Problem and Change
- Able to gather relevant information systematically to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Ability to work in a team environment .
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues, third party service providers and vendors.
Accountabilities And Responsibilities
- Ensure the infrastructure environments are fully supported and meet our defined set of SLAs.
- Bring infrastructure configuration and application code under a version control system that is easily managed.
- Be an escalation point for P1 issues and assist with solving these problems.
- Work with 3rd Party suppliers to ensure that processes are adhered to and leveraged for current and future business requirements.
- Guarantee that security best practices are taken into account throughout the build and deployment of Enterprise platforms.
- Digest new services provided by Cloud providers and understand whether they would be suitable for the business to adopt.
- Ensure product documentation is maintained and up to date
- Work and contribute towards the automation of service delivery and adopt our CI/CD pipeline technology
- Must be willing to respond to major incidents relating to infrastructure outages, outside of normal working hours
- Must be willing to work shift patterns.
- Must be prepared to work flexible hours to cover the change window
