Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated
Cloud Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and improving our
Platform as a Service (PaaS) environment, ensuring that all cloud-based tools and automation platforms operate smoothly and efficiently. Your focus will be on building, managing, and automating the development, deployment, and monitoring infrastructure, while also driving cloud adoption and DevOps best practices. You will work closely with our DevOps engineers to optimize workflows and contribute to building a robust cloud-native platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage PaaS Solutions
- Oversee the operation and optimization of a self-service Platform as a Service (PaaS) environment.
- Ensure platform stability, scalability, and ease of access for developers and other users.
- Tool Administration
- Administer and manage the following tools within the DevOps ecosystem:
- Jenkins (for CI/CD pipelines)
- GitHub Enterprise (for source code management)
- HashiCorp Vault (for secrets management)
- JFrog (for artifact management)
- Terraform (for Infrastructure as Code)
- SonarQube (for static code analysis)
- Customer Interaction
- Interface directly with customers and DevOps engineers to understand requirements and optimize platform offerings.
- Provide training and guidance on platform usage.
- Standardize Cloud Practices
- Help standardize and improve the approach to cloud infrastructure and deployments across the organization.
- Align platform and cloud practices with industry best practices and organizational needs.
- Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs)
- Take ownership of and contribute to the creation and execution of non-functional requirements (NFRs), ensuring that the cloud infrastructure meets performance, security, and scalability standards.
- CI/CD Pipeline Development
- Build, maintain, and improve templated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins for automation and continuous integration.
- Develop robust automation strategies for software delivery.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Utilize tools like Terraform and CloudFormation to automate the deployment and management of infrastructure.
- Develop reusable, version-controlled templates to simplify the process of cloud resource provisioning.
- Automation of Tool Configuration
- Automate the configuration and setup of key DevOps tools, including:
- GitHub repositories
- Jenkins jobs and pipelines
- Backup Best Practices
- Implement and enforce backup best practices, ensuring proper backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud infrastructure and platform tools.
- Observability & Monitoring
- Implement observability and monitoring best practices for both the infrastructure and applications running on the platform.
- Utilize tools to proactively monitor system health, performance, and security.
- Security Best Practices
- Apply security best practices in key areas:
- Encryption (data at rest and in transit)
- Secrets management using tools like HashiCorp Vault
- Networking security, including secure communication, VPNs, firewalls, etc.
- Programming and Scripting
- Use programming languages such as Terraform, Python, Java/Groovy, and Linux shell scripting to automate and extend platform capabilities.
- Certifications
- Hold one or more of the following certifications (or similar):
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar
- Azure Certifications
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKAD)
- Jenkins Certification
- GitHub Administration Certification
- Terraform Certification
- Python or related programming certifications
- Docker Certification
- Vault Certification
- JFrog Certification
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with the administration of the tools listed above.
- Proven track record of building scalable, secure, and automated cloud platforms.
- Experience in implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Jenkins and creating automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of version control systems, primarily GitHub Enterprise.
- Familiarity with Vault, JFrog, and SonarQube.
- Experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid scripting knowledge in Python, Java/Groovy, and Linux shell scripting.
- Certifications:
- Certification in AWS, Azure, Terraform, or similar cloud technologies is strongly preferred.
- Additional Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment.
