Job Overview And Responsibilities
Exciting opportunity to join best-in-class digital technology team at United Airlines as a Senior Developer,
where you will design and develop high-performance applications using AWS cloud services. This role
focuses on leveraging AWS technologies to create scalable, secure and efficient solutions. Your work will
ensure that our software products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability, driving
business success and innovation. The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are essential for
success in this role.
- Translate product strategy and requirements into suitable, maintainable and scalable solution design according to existing architecture guardrails.
- Have a holistic view of how an engineering solution adds value and ties into the defined business outcomes; provide options for how the solution could be evolved to provide even more value
- Use an experimental mindset to identify, evaluate and recommend alternative design options which take target environment, performance security requirements and existing systems into account
- Build the simplest possible solution that fulfils user needs as well as meets functional, compliance and quality requirements, making sure to deliver solutions on time and identify and eliminate potential waste (e.g. unnecessary documentation, inefficient methodologies etc.)
- Drive testing and deployment of software solutions, including ensuring automated testing to ensure solution quality
- Identify and share best practices with other teams as well as produce necessary documentation

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in Java and AWS development.
- Proven experience with AWS Cloud services, including but not limited to Glue, Kinesis Data Firehose, DynamoDB, Aurora DB, MSK, Lambda, S3, and EC2.
- Strong understanding of AWS architecture and best practices
- Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API development
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Design, develop, maintain Java applications.
- Implement and manage AWS Cloud services such as Glue, Kinessis Data Firehose, Dynamo DB, Aurora DB, AWS Entity Resolution, MSK and more.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Optimize application performance, sclability and security.
- Conduct code reviews, testing and debugging to ensure high-quality code.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologie
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems
- Airlines industry experience
