Responsibilities
Verification Planning: Develop detailed verification plans based on design specifications, outlining the verification strategy, methodologies, and tools to be used.
Testbench Development: Create and maintain testbenches for simulating the RTL designs. T
Coverage Analysis: Analyze functional and code coverage to ensure all parts of the design are exercised by the test cases.
Scripting and Automation: Write scripts to automate verification tasks and improve efficiency. This may include scripting in languages such as Python, Perl, or TCL.
Documentation: Document verification plans, test cases, and methodologies. Provide detailed reports on verification progress and results.
Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, architects, and other verification engineers to ensure thorough verification of the design. Participate in design and verification reviews.
Skills and Qualifications
Educational Background: A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are often preferred.
RTL Design Knowledge such as Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
Verification Methodologies: UVM (Universal Verification Methodology), OVM (Open Verification Methodology), or VMM (Verification Methodology Manual).
Simulation Tools: ModelSim, VCS, or Questa.
Scripting Skills: Python, Perl, or TCL for automation purposes.
Typical Job Responsibilities
Development of Testbenches and Test Cases: Creating environments that simulate the digital design, enabling rigorous testing of all functionalities.
Assertion-Based Verification: Writing assertions to check for design properties and ensure that certain conditions hold true throughout the simulation.
Random and Directed Testing: Developing both directed tests (specific scenarios) and random tests (randomized inputs) to cover various use cases and edge conditions.
Regression Testing: Running a suite of tests to ensure that new changes do not introduce regressions, or new bugs, into the design.
Formal Verification: Utilizing formal verification techniques to mathematically prove the correctness of certain aspects of the design.
