About the Role

We are looking for highly driven Backend Developers.

Job Description:

We are looking for thoughtful, well-rounded backend engineers to join our team and help build products that millions of people use every day to discover and read news. You will play an important part in our engineering practice, implementing new features and improving performance. Above all, your work will impact the way the next billion vernacular readers experience news.

What you will do

Collaborate with a small, autonomous team of developers, designers, and product owners to find end-to-end solutions to important problems Implement these solutions for our backend, adhering to best development practices

Help your team solve problems in a way that makes sense for users and our codebase

Who you are :

You have a deep understanding of database design and management (SQL/Elastic Search databases preferred) with a minimum experience of 3 years.

You know how to write readable, maintainable, performant code in programming languages like Python/Java/C.

You are experienced in building distributed cloud systems (CI/CD deployment, Load balancing, Containerization), RESTful API development and optimisation (HTTP life cycle management) .

You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code.If you have built scalable user-facing products in the past, it's a plus. It doesn't matter what language or stack you are comfortable with, but you should have explored it in depth. You should know the benefits, limitations, alternatives and scope for improvement in your code.

Bonus points if you have had exposure to

3-4 years of experience at a fast paced start up

Managing large scale strategic / transformation projects in your prior role

Roles at the intersection of business, product (consumer / media), and tech

Driving both strategic and tactical decision making
