Senior Associate, Markets

Summary
The LSEG Markets Legal Team is looking to recruit a Senior Associate within their team with a proven record of client service and a practical, problem-solving approach to support the Division globally. The successful candidate should be a hands-on and proactive general commercial lawyer to support the Legal Team and to provide specialist and strategic legal advice to the Group's Markets Division. This role can be based in our Costa Rica, Poland, Romania or India location and reports to one of the Markets Legal Team's lawyers based in London.
Role Responsibilities
- Support the Markets business with a wide range of legal advice across all jurisdictions, becoming a subject matter authority and go-to person for all sales team enquiries.
- Supporting the senior lawyers in the Legal team with a wide range of strategic and corporate initiatives and regulatory analysis, working closely with SMEs from the broader Legal & Compliance team.
- Drafting and negotiating agreements with customers, vendors, partners and other third parties, including data licenses, software and intellectual property licenses, intercompany and outsourcing agreements and other complex commercial agreements.
- Support on litigation, regulatory and trading venue disciplinary matters and complaints from market participants.
- Coordinating and working with outside counsel and handling legal services, acting as a point of escalation for legal issues.
- Responsible for maintaining, updating and revising contract template agreements, rule books and other related documentation and supporting process enhancement and automation within the Markets Legal team.
- Implementing internal controls, policies and procedures to increase efficiencies and assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, corporate policies, ethical standards and lead all aspects of adherence to contractual obligations.
Qualifications And Experience
- Qualified lawyer with at least 2 years professional experience at a reputable law firm / inhouse legal team.
- Financial regulatory legal background desirable.
- Willingness to develop knowledge of current and developing legal issues, the regulatory environment and trends in Capital Markets and develop a good understanding of the Capital Markets business.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting abilities, with the ability to understand and simplify complex concepts and issues.
- Excellent planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills, ability to manage projects.
- Strong skills to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Sound administrative and time management skills, with sharp attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and capability to build strong, trusted and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across different functions and cultures; judgement, tact and discretion when dealing with people and issues.
- Fluent in English.
