Job overview

The Banking and Financial Services (BFS) technology and services team focuses on current and anticipated trends at a line-of-business level (e.g., retail banking, commercial banking, cards and payments, lending, buy-side, sell-side, market intermediaries, and regulatory compliance including financial crime and compliance) and the impact of those trends on the corresponding software products and platforms. This team advises BFS enterprises, product/platform/technology providers, and service providers on how the BFS technology stack should evolve in line with the upcoming trends and market needs. From our published reports to custom decision support, BFS technology team supports clients though its fact-based data and insights to analyze and assess market trends, topical issues, and product provider capabilities.

This is a dynamic industry, and the Senior Analyst is expected to track market developments in the BFS industry in-line with evolving regulations, emerging technologies, and advancements in the technology provider landscape which includes core BFS technology providers across lines of businesses, horizontal technology providers for cloud and infrastructure services, and other technology providers in the area of low-code/no-code, data and analytics, financial crime, digital experience platforms, cloud data platforms etc. The Senior Analyst is expected to contribute to the research program by delivering high quality, original research reports and custom advisory projects. This will require the candidate to maintain an ongoing dialog with senior industry executives at BFS enterprises and products/platforms providers on key issues, as well as help answer their queries. The candidate will be required to deliver custom research engagements within the BFS technology area and collaborate with BFS IT and operations services team members to build implications for the industry.

Key responsibilities

• Identify areas of research based on industry and client needs
• Problem solve and structure work to manage deliverables and timelines
• Contribute significantly to the published research agenda of the BFS technology practice
• Lead medium sized custom research engagements
• Actively augment domain expertise and build a PoV across BFS technology platform areas in various lines of businesses, via market tracking, and connecting with internal/external SMEs
• Support business development efforts through proposal writing and other initiatives
• Participate proactively in external market communication by responding to analyst inquiries, conducting executive conversations, and maintaining/growing long-term client relationships

Education & experience

• Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred (preferably from Tier-1 B-School)
• Experience in at least one product/platform used in BFS industry (core banking such as FIS, Fiserv, Temenos or lending platforms such as nCino Finacle, Oracle or similar core platforms in other lines of businesses in BFS) is a must
• 2 to 4 years of work experience as one of the following:
• Business analyst leading configuration or implementation of BFS technology platforms as mentioned above
• Consultant advising BFS enterprises on product/platform selection exercises
• Product manager or client success manager for a BFS product/ platform provider
• Strong understanding of products/platforms used in banking and financial services and their features and functionalities
• History of excellence in academics, personal, and vocational achievements
