Detailed Job Description:

Wireless Infrastructure Software Engineering (Wise) Team is looking for software engineers who are excited to build next generation products for the Central Technology Organization (CTO) within the Devices vertical.

Wise team is responsible for creating products used for autonomous collection and analysis of data from various sources such as engineering, production and end customers. These products are used for achieving operational excellence, analyzing customer data and improving product quality.

Wise team aims to (1) Reduce cost, time to market and enable velocity decisions for wireless product development. (2) Develop Business Intelligence (BI) products for continuous improvement, enable data analytics and software services for rapid diagnostics to resolve end-customer wireless issues. (3) Develop a scalable and modular software infrastructure with SLA-driven availability which both internal (wireless) and external teams can leverage and build new software products & services with the ultimate goal of enhancing customer experience.

Software development engineer on this team look at problems holistically, and thrive on the intricate complexity of customer requirement and scalability. In Wise team, you will be working on projects where you implement solutions to real problems that require creative solutions and deep understanding of the problem space. You will be challenging yourself and others to constantly come up with better solutions. You work closely with the business to define the expansion strategy and figure out innovative solutions to fuel exponential growth of this business.

As part of your work, you will work closely with Amazon device software teams, product management teams, external partner developers, internal Amazon application developers, and Amazon service teams to drive development from the concept stage to the launch stage.

Key job responsibilities

1.Write code: Write code primarily in Python, Typescriptand design scalable, fault tolerant and distributed applications. Produce code that is robust, efficient and maintainable

2.Design is Crucial: Build flexible systems choosing simple, straightforward solutions over more complex ones. Lead architecture of large initiatives in scaling, security and availability. Continually challenge what exists and explore what should be changed to best meet evolving business and market needs.

3.Test, test, test: Our software engineers don't just write code, they also test. You will write unit tests, integration tests and regression tests and find ways to automate them.

4.Troubleshoot and fix operational problems: You will work with other engineers to troubleshoot operational problems and fix them. If you are so inclined, you will also automate troubleshooting procedures and write tools.

5.Influence product direction: You will propose your ideas for the future of the space to product management, and get to shape the roadmap.

6.Implement best practices in modern software engineering: design, implementation, testing, version control, documentation, deployment, monitoring and operations

7.Hire and mentor others: You will get to interview people for the team, and to mentor other engineers

8.Possess self-drive to dive deep and maintain progress even in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge (avoid analysis paralysis)

Tech stack preferences

1.The backend services use a serverless architecture and primary are written in python.

2.Infrastructure code is written in typescript

3.Front end code is written in React using the Cloudscape library

4.Should be aware of agile method of working, daily standups, sprint planning, effort estimation, demos etc

5.Should we well versed with AWS tools and technology

6.Good communication skills

7.Should we be work with minimal guidance

8.Should be able to work with stakeholders to elicit/clarify requirements

Basic Qualifications

1.4+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

2.Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3.Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

4.Solid understanding of Object-Oriented design and concepts

5.Strong analytical and problem solving skills

6.Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

1.5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

2.Experience with all phases of software lifecycle development, including design, implementation, deployment and maintenance

3.Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills

4.Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly.

5.Experience taking a lead role developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers.
