Technical Expertise
Product Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the test and measuring instruments you're selling, including their features, specifications, applications, and benefits.
Technical Support: Providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers, helping them understand how the instruments work, and assisting with troubleshooting and maintenance queries.
Application Engineering: Advising customers on the appropriate instruments for their specific applications, considering factors like accuracy, precision, measurement range, and environmental conditions.
Customization: Collaborating with customers and manufacturers to customize solutions based on unique requirements, ensuring the instruments meet specific needs.
Sales and Business Development
Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identifying potential customers and generating leads through market research, networking, and attending industry events.
Consultative Selling: Engaging in consultative sales conversations with prospects and customers to understand their needs and propose suitable solutions using your technical expertise.
Sales Presentations: Delivering compelling presentations and demonstrations of products to potential customers, showcasing their capabilities and advantages.
Proposal Preparation: Creating detailed proposals, quotations, and technical documentation for customers, outlining specifications, pricing, and delivery terms.
Negotiation: Negotiating terms and contracts with customers, ensuring a win-win outcome for both parties while meeting sales targets.
Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, distributors, and partners to foster loyalty and repeat business.
Market and Product Knowledge
Market Analysis: Staying updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments related to test and measuring instruments.
Product Development Feedback: Providing feedback from customers to manufacturers regarding product performance, features, and enhancements needed to better meet market demands.
Administrative Responsibilities
Sales Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and forecasts using CRM systems.
Travel: Depending on the scope of your role, occasional travel may be required to meet customers, attend trade shows, or visit manufacturing facilities.
Skills And Qualifications
Technical Background: Typically, a degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, etc.) or a related field, with strong technical aptitude.
Sales Skills: Proven sales experience or aptitude, with the ability to build relationships, understand customer needs, and close deals.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly and persuasively.
