The Residential Caretaker is responsible for creating a supportive and nurturing environment for residential students. This includes serving as a role model, ensuring student wellbeing, organizing activities, participating in spiritual life, monitoring student behavior, and providing support as needed.
WHAT YOU LL BE DOING:
Serve as a positive role model for residential students, demonstrating enthusiasm for the MPA program.
Look after the wellbeing of residential students, providing emotional support and guidance as needed.
Teach yoga or coach sports according to skills and interests, promoting physical health and wellbeing.
Manage wake-up and bedtime routines, ensuring students adhere to a consistent schedule.
Maintain dorm cleanliness, organizing and cleaning shared spaces regularly.
Supervise personal hygiene practices, ensuring students maintain cleanliness and good health habits.
Organize fun activities to promote social interaction and recreation, such as games, movie nights, or outdoor outings.
Actively participate in spiritual life activities with their assigned crew, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth.
Monitor electronic use, ensuring students use devices responsibly and in accordance with school policies.
Ensure uniform compliance among students, addressing any issues or discrepancies.
Work cooperatively as part of a team, collaborating with other caretakers and residential staff.
Encourage gratitude for the MPA program, highlighting the benefits and opportunities it provides.
Lead outings and excursions, ensuring student safety and enjoyment.
Provide support to students as needed, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:
To succeed in this role, you will need knowledge of, and a commitment to, the values of Sikhism and Kundalini yoga and adhere to MPA s Code of Conduct. You will be comfortable in India, familiar with the MPA program and have a passion for helping students reach their potential and ensure their wellbeing. The ability to teach Kundalini yoga, lead meditation, coach sports or play kirtan is a plus.
Level 1 KRI Kundalini Yoga Teacher Certification.
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree in education, counseling, or related field preferred.
Experience working with students in a residential or educational setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to serve as a positive role model for students.
Knowledge of kirtan or sports coaching preferred.
Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in shared living spaces.
Commitment to promoting student wellbeing and personal growth.
