Job Summary - To be a part of a team providing 24 hour medical care and immediate resuscitation to any hospital patients, visitor or staff member as required. To assist in the management of patients and provide backup support to the consultant.
Duties and responsibilities -
The basic qualification of RMO is MBBS degree BAMS degree or equivalent from a recognized institute along with relevant working experience.
Experience - a minimum of 6 months in surgical and medical is required for this position.
A professional approach must be adopted with all patients ,staff and visitors
RMO must work within the level of experience and competence and highlight verbally and in writing to the RMO in-charge if they are being asked to work outside the level of their competences.
To ensure that all the patients in the hospital are getting the required medical care and attention from the staff during their stay time.
To maintain patients medical records in indoor files as well as in the computer system to document all medications and test results.
To asses urgent admission as required when the relevant consultant is not immediately available .
To undertake morning , evening and night rounds daily ensuring patients are visited where appropriate.
To receive a hand over report on patient from the alternative RMO when commencing duty.
To communicate any medical problems or concern to the consultant.
To undertake within their level of experience and competence certain medical procedures required by the consultants.
To supervise the daily clinical management of all patients under the guidance of consultants and attend all post operative patients on day of operation and everyday following.
To assist in the day today functions at the hospital any other reasonable task within their level of experience requested by the hospital.
All patients information is confidential and must be respected at all times. The RMO should be able to interpret consultant and nursing staff requests.
To provide urgent medical attention and urgent treatment to staff or visitors in case of accident or sudden illness in liasion with the senior nurse on duty.
To undertake emergency procedures as required including resuscitation taking the lead as necessary.
To remain on the hospital premises while on duty. In the event of RMO not attending for duty the previous RMO must remain until a replacement is found ensuring continuous over.
To comply with all hospital policies and procedure in particular those relating to health and safety at work.
RMO's have no admitting rights to the hospital. All patients admitted must be under the care of a consultant with admitting rights to the hospital
Qualifications
MBBS, BAMS or some equivalent degree
