Job Description

About The Role

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr John Marshall (Associate Professor (Research)) at [Confidential Information] OR Professor Gary Barker (Professor) at [HIDDEN TEXT].

The Elementary Particle Physics Group at the University of Warwick seeks to appoint an outstanding individual to join its research programme, working on the Deep Underground Neutrino experiment (DUNE). The Warwick group has a leading role in the development of algorithms to reconstruct neutrino interactions in liquid-argon time-projection chamber (LArTPC) detectors.

The research fellow will design and implement algorithms in the Pandora software framework, to reconstruct the complex neutrino interaction topologies anticipated at DUNE. There will be an emphasis on exploiting the latest machine-learning approaches and using novel Pandora pattern-recognition functionality. The work will form a vital part of the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)s DUNE Reconstruction Software & Distributed Computing project.

About You

The successful candidate will be expected to hold a PhD in particle physics, or another relevant discipline, and to possess the important computing and technical skills necessary to make significant contributions to our work.

For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.
