This full-time fixed term post is available for one year ending no later than 31 December 2025.

You will undertake research in order to support the work of the School and assist the Principal Investigator in successful delivery of the project(s) including its impact activities.

A significant responsibility of the postholder will be the management of the Driving Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centre (DERIC) on reliability and testing, including co-ordinating and managing the daily activity of the equipment and users within the unit, allocation of activities to space; ensuring legal compliance; management of staff rotas, fault reporting and managing maintenance. You will need to develop standard operating procedures for DERIC and provide the necessary level of training for user groups as well as conducting and co-ordinating appropriate technical for all staff and researchers.

About You

You will have a good honours degree and a PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant subject.

Strong knowledge and relevant background in the use of CAD packages, device modelling, thermal modelling, circuit modelling, and electromagnetic modelling applicable to power electronics is essential. You must also have strong knowledge of practical implementation of power electronics applications, especially automotive knowledge, including design and implementation of power electronic converters for automotive systems, plus detailed knowledge of design and build of advanced packaging technologies, including silver and copper sintering processes.

If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your

PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade

structure. Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to

Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.

The post will be based within the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick.
