Understanding Cytokinetic Actomyosin Ring Force Generation Across Scales : BBSRC funded Post-Doctoral Research Fellow shared between Profs. Mohan Balasubramanian and Justin Molloy.
About You
You will have a PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Genetics with strong experience in the investigation of the cytoskeleton or cellular ultrastructure. In particular, you will have strong experience in using advanced light microscopy and / or structural biology and / or biophysical force measurements and / or genetic analyses of cytoskeleton and cellular architecture in a genetically tractable organism.
You will make yeast mutants, characterize the mutants using genetics and advanced light microscopy. Furthermore, you will purify the mutant cytoskeletal proteins and perform biophysical investigations (including force measurements in collaboration with Professor Justin Molloy).
You will have at least one first authored publication in a reputed journal and have the ability to take intellectual leadership in experimental design and interpretation. You will work with less experienced researchers to further our research goals.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.
