About The Role

For informal enquiries, please contact Satyajit Mayor (Leverhulme Professor) at [Confidential Information] or Phillip Stansfeld (Professor) at [HIDDEN TEXT].

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the biophysics of cell membranes around membrane proteins, using computational biochemistry and related methods.

You will join an ambitious team science project to uncover fundamental molecular principles of cell membrane protein remodelling.

The position will be based in the groups of Professor Phillip Stansfeld and Professor Satyajit Mayor at the University of Warwick. The post is for 3 years, with the potential to extend to 5.

About You

Applicants should either have a PhD in a relevant subject such as biophysics or biochemistry or be due to complete their PhD within 6 months. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a focused interest in computational studies of biomolecules.

We seek to appoint a candidate with working experience in biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, microbiology or similar quantitative discipline. Expertise in computational techniques such as molecular modelling, molecular simulation, and structural bioinformatics is essential, while working knowledge of programming languages, such as python, is highly desirable.

About The Department

We offer an outstanding interdisciplinary environment for discovery science in one of the best universities in the UK. The Centre of Mechanochemical Cell Biology (CMCB) at the University of Warwick seeks to understand the principles of cellular self-organisation with a focus on the role of mechanics in processes that enable cell duplication, movement, repair and membrane organization. The centre is home to 19 principal investigators with backgrounds in cell biology, computer science and physics. It is housed in the Mechanochemical Cell Biology building with state-of-the art imaging facilities.

The post holder will also join the Biomedical Sciences Directorate (BMS), Warwick Medical School. Areas of research excellence in BMS focus on quantitative molecular, cell and developmental biology, host-pathogen interactions and human reproduction. Collaborations between Satyajit Mayor and Phillip Stansfeld will provide an interdisciplinary training in studying membrane biophysics and biochemistry while understanding the functioning of the cellular interface at the CMCB.
