The A*STAR's National Metrology Centre (NMC) is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and test bedding measurement and control systems for ammonia combustion and cracking processe and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement system to achieve better energy efficiency and sustainability in using ammonia as an energy source.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation in measurement and control systems for ammonia combustion and cracking processes.
- Ensure the systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy and traceability of the measurement via both lab calibration and site verification.
- Conduct thorough testing of measurement and control systems under real work conditions.
- Analyze data to identify areas for optimization and implement improvements.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and research findings related to ammonia combustion and cracking processes.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency and performance.
- Create detailed documentation for the developed measurement and control systems, including specifications, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, test results, and system modifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and ensure successful implementation of systems.
Job Requirements
Qualification & Field of Study
- Bachelors or Masters degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical or thermal engineering.
Min. Years of Experience
- 2 years or more of relevant work experience preferred.
Other Requirements (e.g. Skills, Competencies)
- Proven experience in developing measurement/control systems for industrial processes.
- Strong knowledge of process engineering principles, control, automation and instrumentation.
- Understanding on measurement traceability and principle of temperature and flow measurement will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or LabVIEW.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in working with ammonia-based processes will be an advantage.
