We invite applications for the role of Research Associates to work on a project on Drought and Public Health, Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability.
The project is titled as Developing a Framework for Drought Monitoring & Forecasting in India, and exploring the linkages of Drought dimensions with Women's & Children's Health

The duration of the project is for one year.
Responsibilities
As a researcher you will be responsible for,
- Comprehensive review of the project-related literature
- Analysis of remotely sensed time-series data of Climate Hazards Group Infrared Precipitation with Station (CHIRPS)
- Compile, document, verify, and analyse some data from various rounds of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) and other sources such as the Socioeconomic High-resolution Rural-Urban Geographic (SHRUG) database, etc.
- Conduct Ground Truth Survey
- Preparation of scientific manuscripts based on the findings of the study
- Willingness to contribute to other assignments
Qualification and Experience
- Master's degree in Geoinformatics/Geography/Public Health/Population Studies/Environmental Science/Climate Science or related disciplines from a recognized university OR,
- Two years of research experience desired
- Prior work experience on research projects with demonstrable evidence of using remote-sensing data and geospatial methods
- Proficiency in one of the scripting languages, R/Python
- Proficiency in geospatial methods and knowledge of time series analysis
- One or more publications in peer-reviewed journals listed in the Science Citation Index (SCI) in any area of environmental/climate science or public health
- Command in analysing quantitative data using statistical software such as STATA/R
- Experience in analysing large-scale data of surveys such as NFHS/IHDS/NSSO etc.
