Janes is recruiting for a Research Analyst, based in Bengaluru, India office. This role will require an experienced research analyst with a strong aviation or aerospace engineering background. Operating within Janes workflows and processes the incumbent will be a key contributor to the air reference team under Equipment Intelligence function. The role includes in-depth research and analysis for active contributions to various aviation related products including Janes All the Worlds Aircraft, Janes Aero Engines etc.
How You Will Contribute At Janes
You will be responsible for,
- Creating and upkeeping of the data and content set related to Aviation platforms by (a)Regular audit of records with respect to the area of responsibility (AoR) (b) Make necessary updates within stipulated timeframe (c) Create new records as per laid down guidelines
- Tracking acquisition, deliveries, and upgrades programmes of military and civil aviation platforms across the world as per AoR
- Source and validate the data points with primary and secondary research as per the laid down sourcing standards
- Resolve issues raised by stakeholders within defined timeframe
- Develop models/estimates for unknown data-points/ parameters based on in-depth research and analysis
- Liaise with cross-functional teams/ Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to enhance the quality of content
- Conduct investigative research and contact Government agencies, Industry, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and other related organisations for information, as needed
- Support sales/customer success teams and other cross functional teams when expertise as a SME is needed
- Work on related projects and assignments as directed by management
The Ideal Skills And Experience For This Role
- Successful candidates will be a strong team player with a demonstrable interest in the defence domain and knowledge of military as well as civil airborne platforms, excellent research abilities, analytical and communication skills
- Degree in aerospace engineering will be advantageous
- In addition, applicants should have a proven ability to build networks, conduct interviews - over the telephone, email and other communications media- as well as being able to study and interpret secondary sources, sift large quantities of data and study images. They will also have a degree of mental flexibility to conduct investigative work, if necessary
- Subject-specific training and support can be imparted to the right candidate; but military service, experience working in the defence or aviation industry are welcomed
- Computer competency that includes a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications
