The SQL Database Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of SQL database environments, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL. This role emphasizes automation, self-healing capabilities, containerization, and integrating these services into both Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) models. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, architecture, and management across multiple relational database platforms.
- Lead and participate in RFP processes, design and architect MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL database solutions ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to meet evolving business needs.
- Develop and implement methodologies to offer MYSQL database services on IaaS and PaaS models also to ensure the IaaS and PaaS offerings are scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
- Design, implement and manage containerized MYSQL database environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Develop container orchestration strategies to improve scalability and manageability of MYSQL database solutions.
- Design, implement, and manage automation solutions for database deployment, management using tools like ansible & jenkins.
- Design & architect monitoring tools and alerting systems to proactively detect and create self healing capabilities for issues in database environments, including performance bottlenecks, database down and failover.
- Evaluate and select appropriate database technologies and platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL database systems, including installation, clustering, replication, and high availability setups.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices. Provide training and mentorship to team members as needed.
- Proven experience in managing RFP processes and vendor evaluations.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts, SQL syntax, database design principles, and normalization techniques.
- Proficiency in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and capacity planning.
- Experience with database clustering, replication, high availability setups, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
