Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC), is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts, who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology. This includes product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification. The India Development Centre is situated in Chennai and Bangalore.

IDC collaborates with the R&D and Research centres of Hitachi Energy, which are spread across more than 15 locations throughout 12 countries.

Your Responsibilities:

• In this role you will lead a team of approximate 10-15 highly skilled mechanical and electrical engineers for developing the power semiconductor converters, from concept phase to detailed design and introduction into production.
• You will lead a highly knowledgeable team of engineers and specialist, ensure development and retention.
• Manage operational tasks for the team, ensure high quality output from the team.
• Be engaged in creating and driving inspiring team's vision connected with organization's vision & strategy.
• You will take ownership of developing the team's competence and work processes.
• Actively encourage collaboration with the receiving organizations as well as with global team.

Your background:

• You hold Bachelors/master's degree in electrical/mechanical or electromechanical engineering with technical experience in power industry
• Electromechanical design experience from electric power industry or design of high voltage products is valuable.
• Solid understanding of product development work within R&D organization
• Previous experience in semiconductors and or power electronics are added value
• As a person you have a passion for people and technology, you are strong in decision making and have the right inner drive to take on full responsibility for your scope and deliver on time in a dynamic environment.
• Prior experience in R&D, people management are preferable.
• Since we work in an international environment you need to master spoken and written English.
