Overview
The Quality Inspector in Injection Molding plays a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet established quality standards and specifications. They are responsible for meticulously inspecting and testing molded components to identify defects or irregularities, and ensuring that corrective actions are taken to maintain the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of injection-molded parts using precision measurement tools
- Document and report any non-conformities or discrepancies in quality
- Perform first-article and in-process inspections to verify product compliance with specifications
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues and implement corrective measures
- Ensure that all quality and safety standards are adhered to in the injection molding process
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to quality issues
- Maintain accurate inspection records and generate quality reports
- Conduct calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment and tools
- Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent quality
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality and efficiency
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical or vocational training in quality control or related field preferred
- Proven experience as a quality inspector in an injection molding manufacturing environment
- Thorough understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and quality standards
- Proficiency in using measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in identifying defects or non-conformities
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
