Test Automation Engineer

$25 per hour based on a 40-hour working week
Digital Skills is proud to partner with a specialist consultancy seeking to recruit a Test Automation Engineer. This is a 9-month contract role working with a leading retail client. The position is delivery-focused and demands a solid background in Agile methodologies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement automated testing approaches, including the creation of automation test plans and test scripts based on requirement artifacts.
- Ensure comprehensive automated testing coverage for assigned projects.
- Create detailed bug reports in the tracking system and verify the fixes.
- Actively participate in daily project team meetings and brainstorming sessions to address project issues.
- Provide regular updates on effort estimates and task status.
- Collaborate effectively with the project team.
- Offer recommendations to project leads for enhancing test automation and QA procedures, systems, and tools.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in test automation, including creating automated test suites, designing, and executing automated test scripts.
- Must have hands-on experience using Tosca
- Strong theoretical foundation in software testing.
- Experience working on complex projects requiring a deep understanding of application logic and dependencies; proficiency in requirements analysis.
- Solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Java SE. Proficiency in other programming languages is a plus.
- Basic understanding of software development principles such as SOLID and Design Patterns.
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript.
- Good understanding of web technologies, including HTTP(S), HTML, CSS, and AJAX.
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) systems.
- Hands-on experience with TestNG / JUnit, Maven/Gradle, and BDD/TDD methodologies.
- Proficiency in using Selenium/WebDriver, Selenium Grid, and Appium is advantageous.
- Practical understanding and use of the PageObject pattern.
- Experience with bug tracking and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English.
Good to have:
- Experience testing web-based applications and e-commerce solutions.
- Experience in creating, executing, and reporting on test cases/scenarios/checklists.
- Experience working in geographically distributed teams.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence systems.
