Role: Quality Assurance Associate
Employment Type: Full Time
Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Work Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing in a B2B
Role Description
At Pixxel, It's not enough for us to just dump satellite images down from satellites to users. It's important that we equip the end users with the tools they'd need to work with this imagery and any other data to derive insights in a seamless manner on a single platform without any hassle. Towards that goal, we are building Aurora - an all-inclusive platform for a wide range of tasks within the remote sensing and geospatial analytics domain.
The Aurora platform will offer a seamless user experience, empowering individuals and organizations to accomplish various tasks, from requesting satellite imagery across specific regions to importing and analyzing diverse datasets using advanced analytics and machine learning models to obtain valuable insights, alerts, and recommendations. Furthermore, the platform will facilitate tracking actions based on recommendations and monitor their impact.
As a Quality Assurance Associate for Aurora, you will own manual testing and automation of testing of the complete Aurora platform.
In this role, you will be working cross-functionally with Pixxel's Product Team, Engineering Team (Software Engineers, Cloud Engineers), Machine Learning Engineers and Geospatial Analysts.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Manual & Automated Testing (50/50 split): Conduct thorough manual and automated testing of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to ensure high-quality releases. Ensure every new feature is tested in the staging environment first and perform thorough testing of the production environment also.
- Test Planning & Strategy: Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios across all features of the Aurora platform, ensuring both functional and performance testing are covered.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and designers to understand requirements, refine user stories, and validate acceptance criteria.
- Agile Processes & Sprint Execution: Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and daily stand-ups, driving testing efforts for feature releases.
- Regression Testing & Bug Tracking: Perform regression testing to ensure feature stability, document bugs clearly, and work closely with developers to resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure adherence of User Interface with the Figma Designs created by designers: Have attention to detail and ensure 100% match between the user interface developed and the figma designs created by designers. In case of any mismatch between product requirement, design and developed feature, raise the bugs to the development team.
- Test Automation: Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress) to ensure efficient regression and integration testing.
- Reporting & Documentation: Create detailed test documentation, reports, and metrics to track progress and performance. Contribute to product documentation by writing user manuals, FAQs, and technical guides.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively suggest improvements to the QA process, testing tools, and frameworks to drive quality and speed in product releases.
- End-to-End Ownership: Ensure end-to-end product quality by thoroughly testing key product features like data analytics, satellite imagery processing, and L2A hyperspectral image workflows.
- Production Monitoring: Support post-release activities by monitoring production environments for issues, collaborating with DevOps and engineering teams on troubleshooting.
Desirable Skills & Certifications
- SaaS environment. Familiarity with geospatial analytics, AI, ML, or hyperspectral imaging would be a plus.
- Testing Tools: Proficiency with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, Cypress, and experience with manual testing tools like JIRA, TestRail, etc.
- API Testing: Experience testing APIs using Postman or similar tools.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL), scripting (Python/Java), and backend systems for validating data and functionality.
- CI/CD & DevOps Knowledge: Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of testing within continuous delivery workflows.
- Agile Experience: Familiarity with agile testing methodologies, sprint cycles, and ability to work within fast-paced, iterative environments.
- Problem Solving & Attention to Detail: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues with a meticulous approach to identifying defects.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and document detailed reports.
Nice To Have
- Cloud Infrastructure: Exposure to AWS or other cloud environments, including experience with testing cloud-native applications.
- Performance Testing: Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner and experience in identifying bottlenecks.
- Certifications: ISTQB certification or similar testing credentials like CSTE, CSQA, CAST, CMSQ are advantageous but not mandatory.

About Pixxel
Pixxel is a space data company, building a constellation of hyperspectral earth imaging satellites and the analytical tools to mine insights from that data. Pixxel's constellation is designed to provide global coverage every 24 hours and help detect, monitor, and predict global phenomena across agriculture, mining, environment and energy use cases.
Pixxel is on a mission to build a health monitor for the planet through a constellation of cutting-edge hyperspectral small satellites. This unique hyperspectral capability will be the key to unearth underlying, unseen problems that are invisible to satellites in orbit today.
Pixxel has collaborated with prominent organizations such as the Indian Space Research Organization, NASA JPL, and SpaceX among other leaders in the space industry. The organization is backed by Lightspeed, Radical Ventures, Relativity's Jordan Noone, Seraphim Capital, Ryan Johnson, Blume Ventures, Sparta LLC and Accenture among others.
Recently, Pixxel successfully raised $36 Million in its Series B funding round, with participation from new investors like Google, alongside existing investors, bringing the company's total venture funding to $71 Million.
