Team Introduction
Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
To eliminate any doubt, this role involves reading, viewing, listening and examining user-generated content to ensure they comply with community guidelines. Content includes images, video, text related to every day life, but they can also include (but are not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; murder.
The Quality Analyst team within ByteDance's Trust and Safety Operations is essential for ensuring the safety and quality of our platform. This team plays a key role in communicating with various stakeholders to improve and refine our internal guidelines, employing a range of strategies to enhance the user experience.
As a Quality Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting quality audits and data analysis to deliver precise and ongoing quality feedback to relevant parties. You will closely monitor the platform's content ecosystem, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of safety and consistency across English language markets.
Your role will involve auditing and monitoring content to support the effective implementation of our policy guidelines. You will regularly communicate with Market Points of Contact (POCs), Policy Enforcement teams, and Policy Country Managers to achieve our company's objective: fostering the sustainable growth of our community of content creators.
What will I be doing
Please Note That This Position Involves Exposure To Sensitive Content, Including But Not Limited To Vulgar Content, Violence, Pornography, And Fake News. Moreover To
- Conduct regular audits of English video content to ensure that it meets the required quality standards, accuracy and efficiency as per policy guidelines to improve moderation performance.
- Drive calibrations and strengthen policy implementation by providing clear and actionable feedback.
- Support the scalability of quality operations, optimizing quality and efficiency metrics to meet evolving business needs.
- Develop and implement effective reporting mechanisms to enhance Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes and improvement planning, driving continuous improvements in quality and performance.
- Capable of unbiased decision-making and providing feedback on policy-level challenges after seeking alignments from other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in moderation or QA process in Trust & Safety domain with expertise in Video/Audio moderation or Quality support.
- Strong communication skill and command on English, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear and concise feedback.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards. Proficiency in using quality assessment tools and methodologies. Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and improvement planning methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Your ability to work in a high tempo environment, adapt, respond to day-to-day challenges of the role.
- Your resilience and commitment to self-care to manage the emotional demands of the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with US culture, accent, regional nuances, and US politics.
- Previous US based content moderation experience is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of content moderation policies and procedures.
- Awareness of current trends and challenges in online safety and content moderation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Policy Enforcement specialists and moderation teams.
