The QA Engineering Professional supports the critical testing activities for a portfolio of products and services, following best practice standards for test quality, resource planning and issue resolution, in alignment to business strategy and requirements.
What You'll Be Doing
1 - Undertakes first level diagnostics, diagnosing defects against components using techniques and tools defined in the test strategy, identifies defects against the correct component in multi-component journeys, writes test specifications and test designs (scripts) and runs the test scripts to time cost and quality
2 - Supports the full lifecycle integration testing to support project deliverables
3 - Supports the team within its defined area to develop reports on accuracy, quality and errors in test diagnosis against the associated business or customer KPI's
- Executes automation, functional, regression and load testing scenarios, applying solutions that validate the functionality of applications
- Supports the maintenance of test suites and ensures high-velocity, high-quality production pushes using manual tests
- Supports the communication of complexities of internal systems to help test against known issues
- Assesses and suggests ways to mitigate risks that have an impact on the quality of products and services
- Supports in the implementation of ways to improve working processes within the area of QA engineering responsibility
The Skills You'll Need
- Operational Experience: Front line experience of owning & driving incident resolution activities to restore service quickly and effectively in order to minimise business impact to all CFUs and external customers
- Stakeholder Management: Owns relationships at an operational level with CFU stakeholders and technical escalation points & be able to articulate complex problems to a senior manager/director audience
- Business Improvement: Experienced in driving performance and process improvements using data analysis and structured problem solving techniques to address the root cause of failures.
- Product Skills: Possess a technical and service knowledge of CFU products & service journeys and the technologies that underpins them
- Continuos Improvement: Skills in using business improvement processes to continually improve processes, anticipate risks and blockers
- Time Management: Strong time management skills in management of own processes and a wider matrix managed team.
Experience You Would Be Expected To Have
Mandatory
- Extensive Professional Test experience
- Knowledge on testing phases and concepts
- Telecom domain knowledge
- Hands on experience on Automation
- ISTQB Certification - Foundation Level
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Testing Concepts: Understands non-functional testing including: performance, resilience, usability, security penetration. Experienced in implementing a number of these. Aware of the tools that available to support these kinds of testing. Understands end-to-end and multi-system testing issues and techniques
- Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
- Skill for writing reusable Java libraries
- Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java
- Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful
- Experience with popular web application frameworks, such as Play and Spark
- Familiarity with Java GUI frameworks such as Swing, SWT, and AWT depending on project requirements
- Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
- Experience with both external and embedded databases
- Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
- Basic understanding of the class loading mechanism in Java
- Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds
- Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
