Job Description Summary
Consulting Services, a part of GE Vernova, has offices in multiple countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Our Power Systems Engineering team utilizes their deep knowledge of connected power grid planning, design, operation, and life-cycle management, to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Our Power Economics team offers analyses focused on the understanding and the study of the financial and physical operation of the electric power systems including generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, competitive power markets and energy policy implications. Over 700 entities worldwide use our suite of software tools to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a full range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course.
The QA Engineer Specialist will be responsible for developing, executing, and reporting on test cases for a web-based, data-driven engineering application. The successful candidate will ensure application's functionality, contribute to test case libraries, communicate identified issues to QA leaders and development engineers.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Should be able to create Functional, System, Integration and E2E Tests with various testing techniques
  • Should be able to create automation tests with minimal assist
  • Execute manual and automated tests on user interfaces to ensure they meet design specifications, functional requirements, and usability standards
  • Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent performance and appearance across different environments
  • Perform regression testing on UI components after changes or updates to the software
  • Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive test cases based on UI design specifications and requirements
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using issue tracking tools (e.g., Trello, Azure DevOps, Jira)
  • Write effective tests according to best practices so that crucial functional requirements are verified, and tests remain valid when code is refactored
  • Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
  • Communicate test results and mitigation actions to QA leaders, engineering teams, and product teams
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and designers, to understand product requirements and provide timely feedback
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years experience in software quality assurance working with a web-based application
  • Experience is writing testcases and execution using QA Management tool [Trello, Azure DevOps, Jira]
  • Programming experience in JavaScript
  • Experience in UI Test Automation using Selenium, Cypress/ WebdriverIO Automation and specifically writing code in JavaScript and Java

Desired Characteristics
  • Good experience with test automation and reporting tools
  • Experience with load testing strategies for web-based applications
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques
  • Has the ability to take ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary
  • Seeks to understand problems thoroughly before implementing solutions. Asks questions to clarify requirements when ambiguities are present
  • Identifies opportunities for innovation and offers new ideas. Takes the initiative to experiment with new software frameworks
  • Adapts to new environments and changing requirements. Pivots quickly as needed. When coached, responds to need & seeks info from other sources
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed teams
  • Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills
