Job Description For Electronics Components And Products Purchase Engineer

Position: Purchase Engineer

Location: Pune

Department: Procurement/Purchasing

Key Responsibilities:

Vendor Management:

  • Visit local vendors to assess their capabilities, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of electronic components and products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring their compliance with company requirements and standards.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, quality products, and timely delivery.

Procurement Activities:


  • Source, negotiate, and procure electronic components, parts, and products from approved vendors and suppliers
  • Also, look for new vendors for new product requirements
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely restocking of components and products.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand their product needs and ensure timely fulfilment of requirements.

Vendor Coordination:


  • Liaise with vendors for shipment schedules, order confirmations, and delivery issues.
  • Resolve vendor disputes and ensure a smooth procurement process by acting as the key point of contact between the company and the vendors.
  • Organize and participate in regular vendor audits and performance reviews.

Cost Management:


  • Conduct cost analysis and propose cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
  • Work on strategies to improve the cost-efficiency of procurement operations

Technical Support:


  • Evaluate the technical specifications of electronic components and ensure they meet the required standards and specifications
  • Evaluate Products and its features
  • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to identify suitable products for use in projects and production.

Documentation and Compliance:


  • Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, invoices, delivery receipts, and vendor agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to purchasing and vendor management.

Market Research:


  • Stay updated on the latest trends, innovations, and pricing in the electronic components market.
  • Conduct regular market research to identify potential new suppliers and evaluate their offerings.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience (3 + years) in purchasing and procurement of electronic components and products.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics products and components
  • Experience in vendor management and coordination with local and international vendors
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel regularly to visit vendors and suppliers
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite

Working Conditions:


  • Ability to travel frequently for vendor visits and meetings.
  • Office-based role with regular fieldwork for supplier assessments and negotiations.
