Role Summary
The project planner person role will be required to plan, manage and monitor works using a project management tools, including the use of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project etc. The Project Planner will be required to lead on small project planning/ controlling assignments, assist senior planner on large projects and extract accurate information, check the work completed by junior planners for quality delivery of project scheduling works within the given time and cost. Experience of project scheduling for UK projects will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
The major duties, tasks, and responsibilities are below:
- Responsible for all aspects of the planning, scheduling, and programming of the work.
- Lead functional input to projects, including where relevant leading the input of other planners, to ensure delivery is consistent and effective, meeting scope, time, cost and quality requirements.
- Contribute to the planning, scheduling, and controlling strategy for assigned projects, so that the approach taken in each case is effective and appropriate to the project needs and client requirements including setting standards and procedures, monitors and reports at project/portfolio level, prepare relevant project control dashboards for internal and external stakeholder communication.
- Set up the baseline schedule and control procedures for assigned projects and monitor progress against the plan, so that any problems are recognised promptly.
- Report on progress and earned value, to support financial forecasting and any necessary corrective action.
- Assist Senior Planners in monitoring project risks, issues, resources and CPM and assist in providing solutions to Project Controls Manager, complying with WSP and the Client's standards and codes.
- Assist PM/PCM/Senior planner for project planning, scheduling, and controlling input to estimating and tendering activity on assigned projects, so that all relevant issues, actions and risks are understood and taken into account.
- Lead a performance culture, incorporating the WSP values, which develops individuals capability through an active performance management process, so that not only delivery for the company is enhanced but also the skills, capability and personal satisfaction of an individual is maximised.
- Any other iCRC Highways team related assignment as entrusted by Line Manager/HOD.
Key Competencies / Skills
Mandatory Skills
- Demonstrable capability in Project Scheduling, and proven skills in the use of Primavera / Microsoft / other planning products (e.g. Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, Microsoft Project).
- Understand and has utilised Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Techniques, and Basic project management skills.
- Advance level expertise in using MS Excel/ Word for developing tools and dashboards for internal and external stakeholder communications.
- Advanced knowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices & techniques of project scheduling.
- Experience to check the work completed by Junior planners, Excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Preferred: Awareness of Primavera Risk Analysis tool and Quantitative Schedule/Cost Risk Analysis (QSRA/QCRA).
- Preferred: Ability to assist or guide junior planners in the delivery of planning to time, cost and quality
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor Degree in Engineering
- Significant relevant experience, typically 4 to 8 years, in project scheduling
- CAPM, PMP, or Prince 2 certification
- Preferred: Professional qualification in Project Management/Construction Management
