What You'll Do
In Procurement topic of Ops PA, you would use your expertise & consulting skillset to help CEOs, Chief Procurement and Supply Chain Officers and their teams solve their most pressing challenges, and think about how analytics, digital and technology will change the shape of their business.
You would help your clients answer questions such as How can Data & Analytics help me take a quantum leap in my procurement spend optimization efforts, How can I build a resilient & sustainable supply chain to manage & mitigate disruptions better, How can I deliver on my customers expectations with the most appropriate and best in class procurement operating model, How can I help my customers extract maximum value through win- win partnerships with their suppliers and expand the value of the pie through targeted negotiation strategies, How do I help my customers baseline the carbon footprint of their supply chain (Scope 3) and develop strategies to mitigate them and many more.
As a member of our team, you would work on a variety of these topics, applying your consulting skills to uplift clients procurement performance.
As a Procurement PL you will be part of the Operations leadership team and will be directing diverse team(s) of consulting talent. You will manage and lead holistic program for clients, from scoping the work to day-to-day execution to ensure successful delivery of client requirements within the scope of the engagement. Your role will be to help those teams flourish through thought leadership, team mentoring and business development, and clients will seek your advice on business issues that extend beyond the immediate scope of your project work. Finally, as a leader, you will contribute to BCG's intellectual capital in the space of Procurement, defining industry leading thinking, contributing to the topic development and helping build BCG's brand as a leader in procurement transformation.

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG's ability to successfully meet our clients demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the best of BCG to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for exceptional talent from consulting or industry to join us. You would typically:
- Have led teams which have executed procurement transformation projects across the areas mentioned above with clear outcome orientation at clients / in your own company across industries (consumer, industrial goods, healthcare / pharma etc.). Experience as Category Leader or CPO will be valued.
- Have authored thought leadership pieces on procurement topics which have been published internally / externally
- Have been part of Procurement industry forums as a guest speaker / moderator
- Have led diagnostics / pitches to clients on procurement transformation
- Have an outstanding academic track record from a leading university
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Desired Specific Skillset Required
Strong experience in Procurement topic across some or all of the following areas:
- Spend Management: Developing spend cube and conducting analytics on nature of spend and likely indicators of opportunity
- Category Management: Developing category strategies by conducting demand supply analysis, value chain analysis, import export analysis, supply market analysis, application of tools like Porter 5 Forces, Kralijic Matrix, Structure Conduct Performance Analysis, should cost modelling
- Value levers identification and alignment: Deep expertise in target categories to support initial idea generation sessions with cross functional customer teams, cost reduction across a range of commercial, technical and process levers
- Negotiation excellence: Develop negotiation strategies for customers to deliver high value impact, use digital tools for support, prepare of negotiation script, define BATNA and walk away points
- Supplier collaboration and sourcing innovation: Proactively manage critical supplier relationships and build strategies to commit suppliers for first use of innovations they come up with
- Sustainable Sourcing: Help baseline carbon footprint for customers supply chain primarily for Scope 3 emissions, and develop strategies for mitigation
- Procurement Risk and Resilience: Map categories in terms of impact on risk occurrence, and likelihood, and build immediate mitigation strategies for high-risk ones
Exposure to & hands-on experience in digital tools / analytics in the procurement topic:
- Spend cleansing and building spend cube: Familiar with tools available in the market to conduct spend cleansing using AI
- Procurement Operating Model: Experience in SAP, Oracle, Coupa and other platforms available in the market for P2P and S2C solutions, familiar with RFI/ RFQ generation and evaluation tools, Reverse auction tools, etc.
- Specific analytics use cases: e.g. Build should cost models, Linear Performance Pricing models, TCO analysis etc.
